The Penguins Are Coming!

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Members of the Luzerne County Library System (LCLS) are pleased to announce a special guest reading series for children. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are marching to libraries across the county. Each program will feature two players from the organization reading to children. They will share books on topics that include hockey, sportsmanship, and of course, penguins.

The LCLS and its member libraries are excited to partner with the Penguins organization on this reading series. The players and management know that reading plays on the ice and having the smarts to run a successful hockey club began with reading books as youngsters and they want to share the fun of reading with children in our area.

Each program will last about half an hour. The Penguins organization is providing some treats and giveaways. In order to maintain a focus on reading and participation in the activities, players will mainly interact with the children in attendance.

The Reading Series starts November 4th and ends March 23th. Attendees are asked to contact participating libraries for registration requirements. All programs begin at 6 PM and should last about 30 minutes.
